telescope and compass

In today's class I made a telescope which consisted of 9 different cylinders which where all different sizes. The telescope also has the center of the complete shape cut out so you can see through both ends of it, to cut the center out I joined all the cylinders together then made another cylinder which went through the center of the smallest cylinder and then through the rest so there is a consistent hole going all the way through the telescope. I did this by selecting the telescope and then going onto compound objects, Boolean and then selected pick operand b and then selected the cylinder going through the center and it deleted making the hole.

I also made a compass which consisted of  6 cylinders, 3 pyramids, and 2 spheres. I made the pyramids really thin so they would look like the needles on a compass, and I stacked a bunch of different sized cylinders on top of each other to form the center bit of the compass where the needles attach to. I also made a bigger cylinder which I did the same thing with the telescope where I cut a bit of it so it had a dip in it. I made a little hanging section of it so it shows that a chain could of been attached to it at some point, I made this with a small cylinder and to spheres I made a small sphere which I put on  the cylinder but put a bit of it in the cylinder so it wasn't a full sphere, I then made a bigger sphere which a squashed and then put a bigger sphere inside of it and did the Boolean trick I learnt early so it made it in to a ring which I then attached onto the small sphere which was already on the compass.

I also found a texture that I want to use for the center of the compass.
